Satellite Cigar is owned and operated by Bob Hammel in Concord, NC, retailing premium hand rolled cigars and accessories through events such as weddings, business functions, gatherings of family & friends, local delivery service, and a developing home, cigar party system. Frustrated by driving into surrounding counties to buy a good smoke with gas prices through the roof, and overwhelmed with the multitude of choices from the online world of cigar retail, Bob felt there was a niche in the local market that needed attention. The challenge then became how to sell cigars and accessories without a store front or online business model. The process was slow but the plan started to come together. Instead of customers going to a cigar store why not bring the store to the customer? Thus, a mobile, traveling or “satellite” humidor service was created. The “home based mobile cigar retail system,” as Bob calls it, seemed to be a good fit.

This offers affordable, flexible options for larger events and a ten dollar minimum order for local delivery service. All this brings the simple elegance of cigars, to more people for less, without sacrificing service.

Tasting a wine is analyzing the sensations and describing those sensations with simple words. Don't forget that everybody is different and with taste some people like Dijon mustard while some others do not. Same for wine, your favorite may be your friends most hated, so always try to keep that in mind and stay humble. This is your own perception of the different sensations that this particular wine makes you feel. Everybody knows that feelings are not a science.

So here we go, pick your bottle and let's have fun!

Before drinking make sure that the wine is at the right temperature. Around 45° for white wines, 65° for reds. Too cold will make the wine as I like to call it "sleepy," the aromas cannot develop and if it's too warm, you'll have an "angry" wine, his alcohol will hide the elegance and sophistication. At the right temperature the wine is always better.

Choose an appropriate glass, my personal choice goes to a tulip shape that concentrates the aromas, and go well with whites and reds. Please, forget those stemless glass that are not designed for wine, the stem is a handle to avoid the contact with your hand and keep the wine at the right temperature. Pour about 1/5th of your glass, swirl, wine is a live product and needs to breathe. Check the color and the “sexy legs” around the glass. This oily effect means higher alcohol content. The color can range from purple for young wines to a reddish brown for mature wines. The aroma when you smell that might bring up memories ... of the white peach that your grandmother used to give you when you were a child ... or the smell of the forest when you were hunting with your father, simple as that.
The taste : sweet, salted, acidic, bitter ... buttery Chardonnay, velvety Cabernet, chocolate finish, red fruits ... it's just a funny game to play with friends, like a trivia, but don't forget there is no wrong answer, this is your own perception of this experience, even Robert Parker, the acclaimed wine critic was a beginner at some point.

Wine tastings are fun and help you build your experience by trying wines you wouldn't necessarily order. If you play the game, you will discover amazing wines and travel the world without moving. Now grab that glass and let's drink. Santé (cheers in French)!

On the Road Diet & Fitness:

Life on the road is always busy but I always make time to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle! First, I eat within 30 minutes of waking up.  Many studies have been done that verify that eating breakfast helps to jumpstart your metabolism for the day and those that eat breakfast tend to eat an overall lower amount of calories throughout the day.  My favorite breakfast is cereal but specifically I mix regular Special K with a high fiber cereal.  Then I add flax seeds and blueberries or dried gogi berries to it.  Other favorite breakfast items include low-fat Greek yogurt or an egg white omelet with lots of veggies!

Depending on what time the race is I always make time for a workout.  On Sundays there is not a lot of time at all so I tend to do something fast like one of my Total Body Tone Up exercises I created for my NDS Nutrition Blog (http://ndsnutrition.com/category/samantha-busch) and my Pinterest Fitness Board (http://pinterest.com/samanthabusch/fitness/) or I do a workout video such as “Jillian Michael’s 20 Minute Workout”.  When I have more time though I will go power walk around the track with some of my friends and then come back to the bus and do one of the longer workouts I created or a Bob Harper workout DVD which is usually an hour long. Then I always make a NDS Amplify Smoothie to make sure my muscles are getting everything they need after a grueling workout.  My favorite flavor is creamy chocolate and I add Better’n Peanut Butter (a very low fat peanut butter), half a banana, a little milk and ice…it is beyond delicious!  My lunch and dinner usually consist of lots of vegetables, fish, tofu, chicken or whatever else I create! I stopped eating red meat about fifteen years ago so I have come up with some really great vegetarian friendly meals.

When I am home in North Carolina I really enjoy taking a variety of workout classes. It is a great way to get to spend time with your friends and try new activities! I enjoy hot yoga, body strength classes, cycle classes and Zumba.  I am always up for trying new workouts and when we go on the road, especially near big cities, I go exploring to find workouts that aren’t as readily available by me such as Barre class.

Fall Fashion Trends
Faux Leather
One of my favorite trends for this fall is faux leather! Accents are popping up everywhere from sleeve detailing, dress trim and even in jewelry.  My favorite though is a great pair of faux leather leggings!  These have such an edgy and sexy vibe and you can wear them with anything from a casual sweater to a fun sparkly top for evening…I can’t wait until the temperature cools down to wear them!

Leopard Print
I absolutely love to rock some leopard print in the fall! Go all the way with a great full leopard print dress, black tights and black booties or just a pop, with a belt or a great pair of ballet flats in this print.  You cannot go wrong with this look.

Faux Fur
Finally, I love faux fur.  It is such a glam look that you can wear everyday and is also nice and warm.  I love to top an outfit with a great little faux fur vest. Another really hot look is a little faux fur caplet with some long leather gloves…instant glam!

Beauty Tips
InStyler Rotating Iron
I always use my InStyler for any hair-do no matter what the season.  This rotating hot iron is quick, easy and helps prevent hair damage by having the heat rotate constantly instead of sitting straight on the hair like traditional straighteners.  One chic hairstyle typically overlooked is the ponytail.  I like to take my InStyler and straighten my hair while flipping the ends up.  Tease the crown and secure your hair mid-high on yourhead.  The ends will look polished with the flip up you created and you can really jazz up the ponytail base.  A few of my favorite tricks are to wrap a beaded elastic bracelet around the base for a jeweled look.  To edge it up a little bit take a small clip in extension and braid it.  Clip it in under the ponytail and wrap the braid around the base multiple times and pin the end underneath.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze
For ladies who like to multi-task, the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze is the one piece in your makeup bag you won’t be able to live without! I use this shimmer brick as a bronzer, highlighter, blush, a full eye shadow palette and even mix the powder with some Vaseline and create lip colors.  I would be lost without my Shimmer Brick! It is the one thing I always make sure I have in my bag!

Moroccan Oil
This product is an essential! It instantly smoothies frizz and fly-aways and adds so much shine to your hair! Just a few drops will soothe and smooth your damaged or dry hair. It’s great to use with the InStyler and it also helps tame your hair into all the latest hair styles, like a cute pony or loose braid. You can find it in all price ranges and it is sometimes sold under the name Argan Oil.
