2012 INFINITI M37
Infiniti M37

The Infiniti M37 was the first car I had the opportunity to drive and review since becoming part of the Clutch Auto Mag team. After driving probably over a dozen and a half cars, I am still extremely impressed with this vehicle. That goes to show… it wasn’t just about being able to drive a new car; it was about driving the Infiniti M37.
This car absolutely defines luxury at its finest. Almost anything you could ever possibly think of to have on a car, the Infiniti M37 has. Within the first few seconds of sitting in the driver’s seat, I could see just how much the Infiniti had to offer. I sat there for a few minutes playing with everything to make sure I didn’t miss out on anything I could use or enjoy while on the road. The large navigation screen was exceptionally easy to use. That was huge for me being that I hadn’t driven a newer car in some time. Many of the features on new cars can be intimidating to various people. I have heard some that, in my opinion, are so intimidated in fact, they dismiss the possibility of driving a newer car by saying ‘they don’t need this or that feature’ or ‘it’s too much to figure out’. I am here to tell you though that if you do not take the time and drive and see for yourself all that the newer models have to offer, you will undoubtedly be missing out. The Infinity M37 has features you will never want to go without again once you drive one.

Let’s start with the power of this car. Past models, such as the M35 which is what this model replaced, haven’t been as impressive, but Infiniti stepped it up with their 2012 model. The M37 has a 3.7L, 24-valve (yes, I said 24 valve), V-6 engine, and seven speed transmission. The drive mode selector allows you to steer in any condition: standard, sport, snow, or eco mode. While normally getting 18/26 mpg, when used as a hybrid, boosts up to 27/32 mpg. The M37 is best known for competitive driving and driving in mountainous or steep grade conditions. With 330hp @ 7,000 rpm, this car will move. I think the fact a four door sedan can hit 0-60 in less than six seconds is pretty darn impressive.
Infiniti’s M37 is the world’s first for Blind Spot Intervention. You might have heard of Blind Spot Warning, being when a car is detected in your blind spot and alerting you before you switch lanes. However, the Blind Spot Intervention takes it a step further. If you do not hear or adhere to the signals that another vehicle is in your blind spot, the M37 steps up and pulls you back into your lane to prevent an accident. Collision Warning is also provided, alerting you visually and audibly, when an ongoing collision is close to occurring, again… preventing an accident. The car will even break for you if needed. Wow. Both tremendous features to have and huge steps in vehicle safely.

There are many other features I really liked, personally. The rain sensing wipers came in real handy while driving in the rain. I didn’t have to think of turning them on or up or off. The M37 knew when and what I needed and did it all for me. Active Noise Control is a nice feature, securing much of the outside noise that distracts you or just isn’t welcoming, to provide a quiet, calming ride. A battery saver is used if an indoor car light is left on. No accidentally leaving a light on (or a child leaving a light on) and coming out the next morning to a dead battery. Adaptive shift control allows you to manually control the car, this being where the hybrid part comes in. Some cars have a clutch, some have a thumb switch and no visible clutch, but both easy to use when choosing to drive it in this mode. Dual zone temperatures, XM radio, blue tooth adaptability, laminated lights on parts of car interior….. all luxurious facets the M37 has to offer. If I ever needed a family sedan, I would look to Infiniti on this one. Is everything in luxury needed? As always, the answer is no. Is it nice though when you have it? Absolutely.

And you never want to go back. Remember days we didn’t have cell phones or computers in every house? You get my point…
