The 2013 Infiniti JX35 is certainly an incredible luxury vehicle. Pulling with an impressive 265 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque with a wheelbase of 114.2 inches, the crossover surprisingly performs quite well in terms of gas mileage, with an EPA estimated fuel economy of 18mpg city and 24mpg highway. For a vehicle of its' size, these numbers are a pleasant breath of fresh air to those of us concerned with the JX35's impact on the environment, and, of course, our wallets. Saving fuel is clearly a priority to Infiniti; as they have equipped this new crossover with their Infiniti Drive Mode Selector, a feature that allows driver to choose between Standard, Sport, Snow or Eco modes and controls throttle responses and transmission mapping for maximum fuel-saving (and environment saving!) potential.

In terms of safety, the Infiniti JX35 Crossover boasts features such as the Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) which includes dual-stage front supplemental air bags with seat belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor, combined with driver and front-passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags with rollover sensor for first second and third-row outboard occupant head protection. This, combined with the Electronic Brake force Distribution system, the 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System, the Traction Control System, and the optional Blind Spot Warning and Forward Collision Warning systems (along with many more revolutionary features) make the experience of driving the JX35 a reassuringly safe one, as these systems work in tandem for fast, intelligent response in case of accidents -- as this author unfortunately experienced first-hand while reviewing and photographing this flagship crossover. In an unfortunate turn of events, while turning left out of a photoshoot location I was T-boned by an oncoming driver in the left lane, who connected squarely with the JX35's front left quarter-panel before I could react to the urgency of the situation. Thankfully, the other driver made impact only around 25mph, and we all walked away unharmed thanks to the Infiniti JX35's Zone Body construction with reinforced passenger compartment and front and rear crumple zones. Unfortunately, due to those same crumple zones, the vehicle suffered significant damage including a broken front axle, and had to be towed away. However, I am impressed to say that the impact was barely felt by me or my passenger, and that the JX35 performed excellently in keeping us safe; not even deploying the airbags. This experience has served as a reminder to me, a driver who has up until now remained accident-free, that traffic accidents can happen to anyone, at any time, while driving any vehicle... I'm simply glad that since I was driving the all-new Infiniti JX35 Crossover, I my passenger, and the other driver involved are safe and sound.
