2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV

Zero to 60: KEEP THE CHANGE
The Mitsubishi iMiEV, to make a very bold statement, is the most economical hybrid on the market. Coming in at an MSRP $6,075 under any other electric vehicle on the market, in addition to the $7,000 tax credit available for drivers purchasing hybrid vehicles, makes the iMiEV the most affordably priced electric vehicle in the United States. The compact design, spacious interior, excellent handling, and high safety ratings are added values to this economic environmentally friendly car. The 126 MPG city makes the iMiEV an incredible choice for consumers looking for a hybrid car that won't break the bank. It has not gone unnoticed, either: In 2007 the Mitsubishi iMiEV was named “Car of the Year” in Japan by Consumers Choice, Carview, and the Japanese Automotive Research and Journalist Conference.

Three60: FOR THE TECHIES
As a compact car, it boasts a low center of gravity, excellent handling, and increased stability, as the engine is placed just forward the rear axle and behind the rear seat. Beneath the sub-floor lies a lithium-ion battery pack that provides 100% of this vehicle's power. Its 16kWh battery pack, 66 bhp electric motor can attain 126 mpg city driving, and 99 mpg highway driving has helped it to become one of the most

purchased environmentally-friendly vehicles since it was first released by the Japenese in 2009.  The zero tailpipe emission production vehicle makes use of a more powerful 49 kW AC synchronous electric motor. The car’s batteries can be recharged in around 22 hours at 120v or 7 hours at a 240v charging station. The 2012 US version of the iMiEV contains a wider track, redesigned front and rear bumpers, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System. Standard features on the iMiEV include a 4 speaker, 100-watt AM/FM/CD audio system, speed-senstive electric power steering, LEP tail lights, heated driver seats, electric manual air conditioning system, and a vehicle security and immobilizer system. Safety features like dual-stage front air bags, four wheel anti-lock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, and active stability control are all standard options. There are optional cold weather packages and premium packages available.

THE BOTTOM LINE
Mitsubishi is fighting to make a safe, environmentally-friendly, and beautiful vehicle affordable. They've done that with the iMiEV with features such as the drivetrain, which has a proven record of reliability and efficiency. The technology used in the lithium-ion battery is advancing at a tremendous speed, and the costs on these batteries are anticipated to lower quite extensively. Mitsubishi has plans to add more cars to their fleet of hybrid technology vehicles, and if they are anything like the iMiEV, we can't wait.
