2012 Chevrolet Tahoe

4WD LTZ

The New 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe 4wd LTZ is a big aggressive looking SUV for the outdoorsman or family. Whether you are packed with the youth Football team or going to the mountains for an outdoor adventure, the Tahoe can handle whatever you throw at it.  You can tow up to 8,000lbs or cruise to downtown; I found whatever I wanted to do for the day, the Tahoe could do it.

The Vortec 5.3L SFI V8 has no absence of power and is capable of pulling up to 7,300 pounds.  In 4wd I cannot see this SUV getting stuck in anything short of a Avalanche.   When driving the Tahoe, there is little to no road noise and it  feels like one of the smaller SUV’s.  I did notice it had trailer sway control and I would have liked to have pulled something to test it out to see how the 6 speed automatic handles a large haul.  With features such as the optional trailer brake control, heavy duty transmission cooler, and engine oil cooling system; this is a very impressive truck.

The interior has leather appointed seats and steering wheel, which are both heated (seats have cooling as well). I am not sure how much room you really have in the 3rd row; but when sitting back there your knees are high, but it not unpleasant.  The 2nd row bucket seats are heated with power seat release.  The center buckets are really easy to manage, whether to get to the ?? or add extra storage.

Gasoline consumption is not too terrible at 15mpg in the city and 21mpg on the highway.  The Tahoe LTZ does have flex fuel capability so E85 may produce different numbers.   With the sun and entertainment package, along with heavy duty cooling and trailer brake controller packages, you come in at $59,135.  For this price you have a SUV that has everything you need for a truck combined with the creature comforts of a car.  All around a pretty good deal among other SUV’s in its class.
